Ever since i got addicted to those Taiwanese drama most especially Meteor Garden (流星花园), I always ask my parents if we can spend Holy week, the only week we can go out of town in Taiwan but it was never granted not until this year. I was quite happy when I heard the news. I really like to go to Taiwan and see those beautiful scenic spots my dad was talking about and of course the tallest building in the world - Taipei 101, which I learned that will no longer be the tallest one when the building in Dubai is finished at the latter part of the year.
The trip, like what I said, was no good. I didn't even have the time to go to the top of Taipei 101, and I have spent 4-6 hours on the bus everyday traveling along the east coast of Taiwan. Checking in the hotels every night and checking out at exactly 8 am the following day. The second day is an exception although the same case happened. It was the only day that I saw something beautiful - the Taroko Gorge. It was really a beautiful work of nature. It didn't happen at once it took millions of years before it was formed. The huge deposit of marbles was really wonderful. Some layers, because of the pressure from the water, instead of lying horizontally become vertical, and there are some which are diagonal in there arrangement.
The rest of the trip was quite boring. Helen ,our tour guide if I may say so is over qualified for her job. She is so good but like what she has mentioned she doesn't need to work as her sons and daughters are now working. Being a guide is some sort of her past time. Going back to the topic, the rest of the tour was boring, watching the life story of Teressa Teng and Madame Chang Kai Sheik was not my thing. I had enough of those history things and besides the audio in those tapes were so fast that i really don't understand them at all.
Taiwan held their presidential election last Saturday. Helen told us a lot about their politics and how it change her life; how they lose power just because of the governments hatred over China and of course corruption.I was really amazed she knew a lot. One of my travel buddies said that she would qualify as a good politician but she rather stay out of politics. Their election was so fast. They are able to finish counting the ballots as soon as the day of election ends. (How did I know? We watched tv in the bus although the signal was choppy. What do you expect we're doing inside the bus? Sleeping all day?) At least, they will have a chance to achieve the change that they want thru KMT. Well, that's the impression the guide gave me. WTF! She even treated us 2 big cans of Orange Juice because we accompanied her in voting and 2 bottle of Taiwan Beer because 马英九, the candidate that she is supporting won. She really knows how to earn money. ( Do you get what i mean?)
